General information

Palmers is proudly New Zealand owned and operated, with 14 stores across the North Island. Starting from humble beginnings Palmers was originally a family business. Mr A W Palmer started a plant nursery in Glen Eden in 1912, the new business prospered and grew with New Zealand's first modern style garden centre being built on the site in 1958.

Palmers are proud to continue in this innovative tradition, constantly evolving and adapting to make your garden shopping experience easier and more pleasant. We are renowned for our experienced and knowledgeable staff who are happy to provide any gardening advice, whether you’re new to gardening or an enthusiast. Our staff are the experts in plants that will thrive in your local climate.

Between 2012 and 2014, the biggest Palmers stores to date opened their doors in Albany, Westgate and Hamilton. Offering customers a fresh and modern take on the garden centre experience, these stores boast a beautiful retail space offering everything from fresh cut flowers to home décor, jewellery, apparel and giftware, alongside traditional gardening items and the extensive and mostly undercover garden centre. Café Botannix, situated inside the retail area compliments the store environment, serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea daily.
