College of Law New Zealand

General information

The College of Law New Zealand is the leading provider of the Professional Legal Studies Course (known colloquially as 'Profs'). Profs is the post-graduate practical legal training course required for the purposes of admission as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. Profs is available to both domestic and international students.

For lawyers and professionals, and even ambitious students, the College offers the Advanced Business Skills Workshops Series and Online Legal Education, both of which count towards your mandatory CLE (you can accumulate hours from 1 October 2013).

For overseas lawyers and law graduates, the College offers the New Zealand Law and Practice Examination (NZLPE) Preparation Course, which is designed as a guide to help you pass your NZLPEs.

For lawyers, professionals, businesses & organisations, the College offers the Understanding Resilience programme, which aims to address mental health issues in the workplace and provides strategies to assist both management and staff. The programme is available either onsite at the College or at your place of business.

The College of Law New Zealand is a part of the Australian College of Law group, which provides pre-admission practical legal training through Colleges of Law established in New South Wales (1974), New Zealand (2004), Victoria (2005), Queensland (2005) and Western Australia (2006). The College was established by the Law Society of New South Wales, as a not-for-profit body with legal educational purposes, designed to meet both the pre-admission and post-admission practical legal training needs of the legal profession in Australia and New Zealand.
