General information

On 1 June 2016, Chevron New Zealand who operated the Caltex brand in New Zealand, was acquired by Z Energy Ltd, marking the growth of the country’s only Kiwi transport fuel company. Z Energy currently operates the Caltex network in New Zealand using the brand under licence from Chevron International.

At Caltex, we have achieved many breakthroughs in our products and services over our 80 years of operation. We take pride in continuing to deliver world class fuels and lubricants to our customers across the country.

The Caltex Star stands for quality, value and service. Most importantly, it stands for our commitment to our customers. This Facebook page is all about helping New Zealanders enjoy the journey and celebrating the wonderful parts of New Zealand, including the people who make them great.

By providing you with the quality pause and re-fuelling you need – from fuels and other energy products to refreshments and everyday supplies – we hope you feel recharged and ready to hit the road again.

On our forecourts and in service stations we aim to be helpful, welcoming and respectful at all times. It’s the same here on Facebook, so we welcome your feedback and suggestions and we hope you #EnjoyTheJourney with us.

Starship Foundation

Caltex is proud to sponsor the Starship Foundation charity, which provides additional equipment, support and help to staff, patients and families of Starship Children’s Hospital.

We provide fuel free of charge to their fleet of vehicles as well as Caltex StarCash – prepaid fuel cards that Starship auction off at various events throughout the year to raise funds. We also support the hospital through staff volunteerism, sponsorship of the volunteer morning tea and donation boxes at a number of Caltex retail service stations around the country.

Recently, we supported Starship and Safekids Aotearoa to promote Booster Seat Safety through the campaign “It’s safer to wait until you’re 148”. The campaign focused on the importance of using booster seats until a child reaches 148cm tall rather than the minimum age of seven years. International research has shown that children under 148cm may not fit an adult seat belt properly.

Community Mentor Driving Programme

Caltex, in conjunction with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) and the Automobile Association (AA), are proud to support the Community Mentor Driving Programme. The programme is designed to address issues of disadvantage for learner drivers in the 16–24 age group seeking to get their restricted license. These barriers can include access to suitable vehicles, experienced drivers to supervise, and the additional driving practice needed before the new test. Through a community effort we believe we can help overcome these barriers, providing an opportunity for youth to learn in a safe environment whereby they can become safer drivers on the roads. With road accidents being the single greatest killer of 16-24 year olds and the leading cause of permanent injuries, this is more important than ever.

Through the partnership with a local community group (e.g. Partners Porirua, Te Kuiti Community Trust, Gisborne Police, The Salvation Army) students will gain additional experience to make them safer on the road in a variety of situations with the aim of sitting their restricted license. More than 70 students have completed and passed their license to date through programmes in Te Kuiti, Gisborne, Porirua and Christchurch. Caltex is contributing $100,000 over two years to the programme covering the fuel needs across each location.
