Professional Counselling based on Solution Focused and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Evidence based practice:

Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are scientific, evidence based therapy approaches. I continue to expand my knowledge of SFBT and ACT through ongoing education, participation in interest groups and supervision.

Resilience:

I focus on clients' strengths and resources, and how these help them to cope with and adapt to challenging life experiences. I incorporate aspects of mindfulness and willingness to help clients to find more workable ways to stop their struggles.

Life Skills:

I promote prevention of medication by providing support to individuals who are experiencing difficult life circumstances and mental health challenges. My clients are learning skills to handle difficulties more effectively so that they have less impact on their lives.

Openness & Connectedness:

I work with adult clients within their context, and whenever relevant, involve family members or partners. I work respectfully and non-judgementally with people of all sexual orientations.

Understanding:

I strive to listen, understand and validate my clients. I am compassionate, perceptive and gentle.

Cultural sensitivity:

I aim to respect and learn about clients' ethnic, cultural and faith backgrounds so that I can make my work culturally relevant.
