Resuscitation Skills

General information

Resuscitation Skills is a group of highly experienced resuscitation educators with backgrounds in pre-hospital emergency medicine, tertiary education, intensive care, anaesthesia and emergency medicine. Resuscitation Skills was formed to cater for health professionals to improve their individual and team's performance in resuscitation and medical crisis. We believe this has been achieved through the use of advanced patient simulators, an innovative programme that maximises “hands-on” technical skill development and development of individual and team performance in a high quality simulated environment.

Resuscitation Skills is located in the Clinical Skills Centre, Level 4, Support Building at Auckland City Hospital; a modern, purpose-designed facility for advanced resuscitation and simulation-based training. Course participants use the latest full-body Laerdal patient simulators. This superb facility allows us to run case simulations which involve the use of live defibrillators, real oxygen delivery systems, wall powered suction and actual emergency drugs that are opened and administered to the patient (manikin). Interactive whiteboards also allow multimedia to be incorporated into the simulations, and scenarios can be recorded for playback to enhance the debriefing process.

Resuscitation Skills also offers on-site training for key clients and consultancy services to deliver tailored training solutions. We offer ACLS refresher courses, the New Zealand Resuscitation Council CORE Course level 4-7, PALS and BLS for health professionals.
